Airport

Boise Airport (BOI) is served by 8 airlines and offers non-stop daily service to 16 cities, including several of the top 10 busiest airports in the country.  In 2008, 3.1 million passengers traveled through Boise Airport.  As the gateway to southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon, Boise Airport has responded to the growing population and economy.  Owned by the City of Boise, BOI is literally an extension of "Main Street" serving the convergence of manufacturing, corporate headquarters, regional health care, transportation and financial services, tourism and recreation, and government that has catapulted Boise's economy into the next century.

The growth of BOI's air cargo market has coincided with the high tech manufacturing that has found a home in the Boise Valley.  In addition to the 8 mainline and regional airlines providing service through the airport, there are almost 50 motor freight trucking companies, 20 air freight and package express companies, and several air courier services.  Major cargo carriers have a solid presence at BOI.  FedEx continues to operate from facilities east of the terminal and United Parcel Service operates form the west end of the airfield.  The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service maintains an office at the airport.

Boise Airport serves as the primary commercial service airport in southwestern Idaho, (which includes 27 counties, 65 percent of the state) but its service area, with a population close to 600,000 extends well into eastern Oregon and parts of northeastern Nevada.  The airport is located just five minutes from downtown Boise.  The airport terminal is open 24/7 with a covered parking garage and remote surface parking with shuttle service, foot & beverage concessions, news & gifts concessions, and a conference center.  The ticket lobby has 44 counter positions and there are eight curbside check-in counters.  Free Wi-Fi is available throughout Boise Airport.  Boise Airport has 13 loading bridge gates in B Concourse.  The C Concourse serves airlines that use a ground-loading process.

In addition to being a commercial and general aviation airport, the Boise Airport, located a short distance west of Mountain Home Air Force Base, is used by the Idaho Air National Guard.  The United State Forest Service also uses Boise Airport as a base for aerial firefighting air tankers during the wildfire season.
